A compact guide to library services for teaching staff
Select a topic from the menu or use the search box below:

E-book chapters

  1. Search for the e-book you want to use on the library catalogue and follow the link to access the book.

You'll need to log in to your Ebook Central account (or create one, if you don't have an account already) before you can access the e-book and obtain links to either the book itself, or individual chapters from it.  These instructions will tell you how to create an Ebook Central account.

  2. Once you've logged in, you'll be taken to a summary page for the book.  On this page there's a button that allows you to Share link to book - click this if you want to simply provide students with a link to the book itself.

If you'd rather link to a particular chapter, click Read Online to open the full text of the book.

  3. The first page of the e-book will display on screen with a listing of the chapters on the left hand side:

    E-book display
Select the chapter you want from the list.

  4. At the top of each page there's a Share Link button - click it and a popup window will appear giving the URL which you can copy and paste into your course:

    Share Link box

Note that this button appears on every page of the e-book, so you can link to virtually any part of the book, not just to the start of a chapter.
