Creating alerts

You can set alerts for particular subjects, authors etc. so that you will be automatically notified when new items matching your criteria are added to the library catalogue. These will usually be sent to your TAFE SA email address.

To set up an alert:

  1.  Login to your library account (as a reminder, Borrower ID is your student ID and PIN is the last 4 digits of your ID number).
  2.  From the menu on the left hand side of your Dashboard screen, select New Alert Profile.
  3.  Enter your criteria in the boxes, using the dropdown menus to set the fields you want your terms to appear in (author, title, subject, series etc. or All fields if you want to make your criteria very broad.)
  4. Choose an alert frequency (i.e. daily, weekly etc.) and an expiry date if you want the alerts to stop after a certain date,
  5. Click Test your search to get an idea of how many results you're likely to get and how relevant they are.  If the results seem unsatisfactory, modify your search using the AND, OR and NOT choices in the dropdown boxes to refine your search.
  6. When you're happy with your search, click Save

There is no limit on the number of different alert profiles you can set.  You can check, change or delete them at any time by logging into your library account.
