Artificial intelligence (or AI for short) is the simulation of human intelligence processes by machines, especially computer systems.
There are many types of AI and some of these applications are already familiar in our daily lives - virtual assistants, personalized recommendations, autonomous vehicles, intelligent healthcare, and smart home automation.
Generative artificial intelligence or Gen AI is a type of artificial intelligence system capable of generating text, images, or other media in response to prompts. Generative AI models learn the patterns and structure of their input training data and then generate new data that has similar characteristics.

There are many types of Generative AI:
Image Generative AI can create new images based on existing ones such as creating a new landscape based on existing scenery.
Text Generative AI can be used to write articles, poetry and scripts.
Audio Generative AI can generate new music tracks, sound effects and voice acting.
There are many generative AI applications available, with new tools being created everyday
Generative AI can be a great tool to help you in your studies, but there are also limitations and drawbacks to what it can do. It is important to know about some ethical and academic integrity concerns and the risks associated with using AI in your studies. By being informed, you can take advantage of AI’s benefits while still studying ethically and with integrity at TAFE SA. The following pages will explain how you can make the best use of AI.
